Higher Education Program

The Kaibab Band of Paiute Indians goal is to extend educational and vocational training opportunities to all tribal members for the purpose of developing leadership and increasing employment opportunities in professional and vocational fields. 

The Higher Education Scholarship is available to students attending an accredited college or university as a full or part time student. Full time students are eligible for an award up to a maximum of $15,000 per year. Part time (6 credit hours) students are eligible for an award up to a maximum of $6,000 per year. The Higher Education award is based on a Fall/Spring/Summer year. The deadlines for application submissions are: 

Fall/Spring/Summer Semesters--June 30th
Spring Semester--November 30th
Summer Semester--April 30th

​Students who are eligible to receive the Higher Education award will also receive Tribal College Fund monies to help with the cost of books, fees, and other college expenses.

Tribal College Fund Independent Scholarship

The Tribal College Fund Independent Scholarship is available to tribal students who are funding their own education through sources outside of BIA and Tribal gaming monies. Students are required to follow the requirements set forth in the Higher Education Policy.

Energy Fuels Scholarship Fund

The Energy Fuels Scholarship Fund was created in 1992 for the sole benefit of qualified members of the Kaibab Paiute Tribe who demonstrate a high aptitude in mathematics, science, or engineering. The Tribal Council will award one student per year in the amount of $5,000 . Students must be enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral program in the field of mathematics, science, or engineering and they must have 60 credit hours with a GPA of at least 3.0 to apply.

Adult Vocational Program

The Kaibab Band of Paiute Indians goal is to extend educational and vocational training opportunities to all tribal members for the purpose of developing leadership and increasing employment opportunities in professional and vocational fields. 

The Adult Vocational Training Program provides funding to students in accredited vocational training institutions. This is a two year termination program, except three years for nursing vocations. The grant will cover living expenses, tuition, books, transportation costs, and other related costs of vocational training with a maximum award of $14,000.
There are no deadlines for the Adult Vocational Training Program and applications will be processed at the committee meeting following the date the application was received.

GED Resources


Adult Education Program

The Education Department is here to provide guidance and encouragement to tribal members to help them formulate an education plan to achieve their desired career objectives. The first step on this path is getting a high school diploma or GED. Students who have been out of school 1-3 years and have minimal credits to recover from high school, should seek their diploma through a credit recovery program. Students who have been out of school for longer than 3 years should enroll in a GED course and start now to reach their potential.
